Property detailed description
Casa Marconi is a charming stone villa, dating back to the 17th century. It is set, completely detached, on 2 hectares of terraced farmland with olive groves and fruit trees; offering a stunning view on the surrounding landscape. The location of the property, approximately 25 km. from the town of Lucca, is ideal to experience the lovely countryside, hiking and relaxing and also be in proximity to the historical sights of the area: Pisa and the Riviera only 45 km. away, Torre del Lago (famous for Puccini's Villa and the lake) 40 km., Lucca 25 km; the Spa Town of Bagni di Lucca 15 km, where you can take hot thermal baths., Barga (a beautiful historic medieval walled city) 20 km., Florence and the Chiantishire are a good daily excursion.

The house has been in the same family for over 125 years and was completely restored to its former charm in 1998. Much care and effort has been taken to retain the typical tuscan architectural style - such as cotto floor tiles and beamed ceilings - and to add modern comfort and convenience.

The house is well furnished with many antiques; the ground floor rooms (kitchen and dining area) open to a marvellous porticato with barbecue, furnished with tables and chairs, where guests can enjoy their meals and the stunning view over the surrounding hills. A wide garden all around offers sunny and shadowy spots to spend relaxing hours. Hammocks and fine garden furniture stay at disposal. Private parking by the property.
Maid service can be requested at an extra charge.

A typical restaurant is at a walking distance, basic shopping can be found in a village at 10 Km. drive.

Further details: The house sleeps 8 in four roomy bedrooms on two levels. Each floor has a large bathroom with shower. The kitchen, living and dining areas, and a half bath are on the ground floor. The living area features a beautiful open fire and has a satellite tv.

Guests whishing to experience the atmosphere of the past, may cook their meals in the build-in wood burning oven, or just walk through solitary paths leading to the surrounding villages.

In a nearby village, guests can visit the smallest theatre of Europe, recently restored by Unesco and opened to the public.

Region information
Colognora, lucca district
Colognora is a magnificently preserved village, rather off the beaten tracks: ideal for people looking for peace and rest.
Its name derives from coloniola, which is small colony. The village is surrounded by forests of chestnut trees, with houses in stone that date back to the XVI century.
The village entertains a beautiful museum, the Museum of the chestnut tree, showing a collection of tools and objects related to the use of this precious fruit, the chestnut, for the economy of the valley.
This village, remained practically unchanged in the centuries, and appears an anachronism to today's eyes.
It was a strengthened suburb and still many lines of the old boundaries are visible: the roads are all made of pebbles and the buildings still denote the old elegance that once characterized them: arcs, lintels, doors and windows with frames in sandstone
