The Long Bay House is nestled on 5 acres on the Island of Green Turtle Cay, a barrier Island off the big Island of Abaco, the northern most Island in the Bahamas chain.
Located 180 miles due east of West Palm Beach, the Long Bay House sets on the highest point of Long Bay Beach and overlooks Black Sound our inland harbor.
"ABACO LIFE" has called Long Bay Beach one of the top ten most beautiful beaches in the Bahamas, we think you will agree. Pure white and sandy, great for swimming, snorkeling, sun bathing and relaxing. This beautiful beach lies just a few feet away from the front of the house.
The Atlantic Ocean is visible to the north and Black Sound is visible to the south. On Black Sound there is a 120ft dock complete with a 14' Boston Whaler for your pleasure. Walk along the two miles of private white sand beach complete with two ocean-side decks or you can explore the Island with the bikes provided or rent a golf cart. There are many companies that provide services to fish, dive, or snorkel either in a group with a local dive master or fishing guide. You can rent larger boats or go on tours with Captains or guides to other Islands. Picnics, shopping and sightseeing can be yours to enjoy, you may also choose to explore the uninhabited Islands that surround our Green Turtle Cay, with there secluded beaches, ideal for shelling or a quiet picnic, the tables and grills that the locals have provided allow you to safely enjoy these Islands.
Comfortable furnishings and amenities complement Long Bay House, offering pleasant, quality accommodations in an exotic seaside setting within earshot of the Atlantic surf. This House has handsome Abaco-pine living areas, a cathedral ceiling, a library and magnificent views. Four bedrooms, two baths, a full sized modern kitchen, a dining room that has seating for eight, and screened porch that also has dining for eight. Off the kitchen is the large master bedroom with king size bed, fireplace and a large bath that has access to the beach.
In the center of the house is the large living room and access to the screened porch, both these spacious areas are overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. On the other side of the house, off the living room, is the other large bedroom with a king-sized bed, traversing this room for access are the two smaller bedrooms with two single beds each, all three share a single bath. The smaller bedrooms are ideal for children or a single adult.
Outside, on the back side of the home enjoy the "new" modern, cocktail-friendly, swimming pool. In-Pool seating on three sides and with easy access wide steps that will accommodate everyone safely. Large, open and covered deck areas for relaxing in or out of the sun. You may eat your meals or just spend the day reading, relaxing or sleeping in our hammocks. Take in the Ocean breezes and the 360-degree views of the entire Island and surrounding Cay's from the "Widows Walk" observation tower atop the pool house.
Getting to the Long Bay House
is very easy. It is located 180 nautical miles east of West Palm Beach. You can fly directly from the cities of Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Orlando. We are serviced by Vintage, American, US Air, United, Continental, and three or four small airlines, such as Sunshine, Island Express, Bahamas Air, and Gulf Stream. You book your flight to Treasure Cay, Abaco Bahamas, airport code TCB, which is a port of entry with a Customs and Immigration.
After clearing immigration, you will take a short 3-5 minute Taxi ride to the Green Turtle Ferry Dock, where you will board the "Bolo" water taxi and tell the Captain that you are staying at the Long Bay House and he will take you right to our dock. You will be met upon arrival and taken up to the house and settled in, where everyone in your party can begin to enjoy all the amenities this paradise has to offer, relax and start the pleasant adjustment to a style of Island Living. No TV, No ATM's, No Mickey D's, game-rooms, disco, malls, or traffic, feel the tensions drift away on an Island breeze, or discover the multitude of stars and quiet peace this vacation has to offer.
We have world class fishing diving snorkeling with reefs right in front of the house teaming with life. We have uninhabited island on both sides that are perfect for sunbathing privately or picnics and they even have benches and grills for your use.
