1. News and site updates


1.1. Search engines optimization

We are in the process of full search engine optimization for our site.
On November 25 we had 1720 pages indexed in google, today we have
5200. We are expecting this number to rise every day. Please read
below how we can help your listing to show higher on the search
engine. Check how many we have now!


1.2. Niche vacation rental sites

We work very diligently on analyzing what renters are looking for
on-line. This research lead us to creating a set of “daughter” sites
of Vacation Rentals Listed. You can find your listings on Children
Friendly Vacation Rentals site:
www.Children-Friendly-Vacation-Rentals.com if you allow children.
There are a few more sites that are currently in development, we will
keep you posted on their launches. We ask you to check your listing
and make sure your descriptions and categories are correct and up to
date.


1.3. Visitors subscription to specials

We created a subscription for “specials” for users on Vacation Rentals
Site. Our records show that visitors are checking Specials directory
more often then they do searches once they get to the site. We ask you
to update your specials as often as you have them, this way you will
have more chances to book your off-season dates. Not only will they be
listed under the “Specials” section, they will also be mailed to
subscribers every 2 weeks.


2. Make auto-responder bring you more booking!

What is the auto-responder or auto-reply? It is a function of your
email program which automatically emails a prewritten message to any
incoming email.

Why do you need it? You know that all portal sites work – inquiry is
created right on your listing and submitted through portal’s email
system to your email address. Up to this point, your potential guest
doesn’t know about your vacation home, other then what he reads on the
listing.

Auto-responder will email your potential guest information you want
them to see if they would come to your site. Let’s now think what we
want to include in the auto-responder email. This is your chance to
market your property and you don’t want to miss it!

Studies show that if your email visually has not more then 20
sentences, it will be read. People usually want to see photos of your
property, they are interested in prices and only then they are looking
for availability. So your email should be concentrated on these
points. If you have a web-site, then you want to place links to
appropriate pages.

Small note. There is a big discussion on strategy for disclosing the
price to your potential clients. Depending on how you feel about it,
are you firm on the price? Do you want to negotiate and are you ready
to lower the price? How flexible are you? By answering these
questions, you will be able to create a proper block in your
auto-responder for prices.

You also must assure your potential client that you will get back to
him within a reasonable time. Don’t wait too long to respond or people
will forget about your property. Everyone likes personal attention and
if you want your property to be booked, you need to show it quickly.

The possibilities with auto-reply are endless and this is an excellent
tool to make a first step to a client and show him you care.


3. Search optimization for your listing
and free search submission.

We would like your listing to come up in the search engine when
potential guests are looking for a vacation rental in your area. To
make it happen, you need some work done on the text of your
advertisement. We would like to offer you this text content re-writing
(or creating) for $10 that will be paid to a professional content
writer. For everyone who will pay for this service, we submit their
listing to 10 web-directories.

We also can offer you a FREE evaluation report on how it is optimized
for search engines and what is needed to be done.


4. Link your site to VRL

As many of you know it is very good to have links to your site from
other vacation and travel related sites. This is why we allow you to
have links from your listing to your personal site; we know that over
time it will bring excellent results to you. We would like to ask you
to include a link from our site to your personal site. If you add a
link to your own listing, it will do good twice – it will increase the
possibility of search engines to find your own listing and it will
also help our portal site to gain better rating as well. Please email

5. Free classifieds posting and other advertisements

We are posting your listing to multiple classified boards such as
Craigs list (www.craigslist.org). We post your property information
not necessarily to your city or state. The reason for doing this is
that we want to see where your potential guests are coming from. If
you would like to share where your guests are coming from
geographically, this would dramatically improve our marketing efforts.

We also acquired a very extensive opt-in email list of families with
children who have at least once booked a vacation rental. We are
planning our email campaign to them very carefully, we want to do the
best possible match for owners and renters. This is why it is very
important for you to have your descriptions, photos, calendar and
rates current.


6. Near future plans

We are planning many enhancements to our site.

In the very close future we will have our own calendar. We understand
it is not very easy to maintain multiple calendars and we will allow
you to keep your existing non-VRL calendars.
Full management system is on it's way, we are 70% done with coding.
The system will allow you to have total control over your property
management from the moment you received an inquiry to the moment you
sent the damage deposit back.
Multiple translations to your listing. Since we want our site to be
true international, we are studying now on different encodings and
languages. You will be updated on the process.


7. Learn little bit every time: Currency in your listing.

We added a small feature to our site – multiple currency converters.
We update rates every 2 weeks. You can make your listing in any
available currency. US dollars are “default” setting for all visitors.
If you can not find a currency that you operate, please let us know
and we will add them.


8. Personal words from the founder

First of all, I want to thank all of you who responded to our
advertising offer. This is my first true experience for a project of
this size. And so far it was excellent. With every posted listing,
with every indexed page in the search engine, with every new inquiry
from a renter I see a better future for Vacation Rentals Listed. As
all of you know, a new vacation rental portal site is launched every
day. And to succeed in this race, we have to stay in touch with
technology, news, industry and most of all – you – our owners. We will
continue working for you next year and thank you for the opportunity
