Vacations at Hilton Head will offer something which will appeal to the
entire family. There are a few things you should know to insure that your family

The Trip To And From Hilton Head Island. Many people choose to drive
to the island so they will have available transportation once they
arrive. In order to see all of the sights and truly enjoy the island,
transportation is necessary. There are several attractions as well as the
beaches and golf courses. If you prefer to fly, there are car
rentals available at the nearby airports. There is also an airport in
Savannah, Georgia which is only a 45 minute drive to the island. There
are limited flights into the airport on the island but they are usually more
expensive.
If you plan to drive you will be taking Highway 278, which is exit
8 in South Carolina off of Route 95. This is only eight miles from the
Georgia border and 40 minutes away from Hilton Head Island. You will
need to allow for this when planning your travel time.
There are ferries which go from Savannah, Georgia to Hilton Head
Island and this could be a timesaver which will allow you to get a faster
start on the island. One thing to remember is the ferries do not carry cars so
you would still need to get a rental.
Hilton Heads Main Attractions Are The Beach And Golf. Most
Hilton Head vacations are centered on the beach and activities associated with
the beach. You’ll need your swimsuit, a towel, and lots of
sunscreen to enjoy all of the walks in the sand and the surfing
you will be doing on the waves.
Hilton Head’s other attraction is golf, with nearly 25 golf courses
to choose from on the island. There are also many more in nearby Bluffton and
the low country, which includes Daufuskie Island and Fripp Island.
These are only a quick ferry trip away to world famous courses like Harbour Town
Golf Links which attracts players worldwide. You have the option to bring your
own clubs or rent them at the course. There are also golf classes
available to those who are just beginning to enjoy the sport.
