Consider a travel insurance when booking a vacation rental

Wednesday, August 01, 2007

Did you hear about travel insurances? There are many people who worry a lot when they plan to go on vacation or rent vacation home; and for many travel insurance is the key to all your worries. Due to the comfort this policy offers, travel insurance is becoming very popular these days. With travel insurance you can just relax and sit back if there is any kind of problem you faced while on vacation. Ask the owner of your vacation rental if he can recommend one for you.

Most of the travel insurances packages are about 8% cost of the trip. For example lets say that your vacation or vacation rental costs you $3000 then the insurance of that vacation will be $240 simple! This $240 can buy you a lot of things. The package normally covers baggage loss and delay, trip cancellation and delay, and car rental loss and damage.

Let’s start with baggage loss and damage. Most of the airlines cover up to $3000 if there is any kind of baggage loss or damage while it was in there care. But for this purpose you will have to provide $3000 worth of receipts before they issue any checks. Also, the homeowner insurance (if you have any) will provide you financial backstops for lost belongings.

If you are expecting a change in plan like trip cancellation or delay, the travel insurance covers it too. Most of the airlines are wiling to reschedule your flight or even refund money in case of death or illness. However, if you want a refund then you will have to provide the necessary documentation before you can have your money back.

Now let’s come to the last issue at hand; the car rental loss or damage. A comprehensive travel insurance covers car rental services as well. In the section of the policy the “non owned vehicle” covers the rental cars. A decent policy will afford the "broadest coverage" for rentals that it offers your normal car. Also, it must be kept in mind that rental services bought using a credit card also have a rental coverage in them. That’s taste f two in one without spending a single dime.

In short, now you have nothing to worry about when on vacation. Give away all your worries to the travel insurance policies.
